Super Mario Run is Nintendo’s first Mario game released for Apple’s mobile operating system, iOS.

The game features three modes: World Tour, Toad Rally, and Kingdom Builder.  In World Tour, you play 6 worlds, each with 4 levels. In Toad Rally, you face-off with others to impress toads to join your kingdom. In Builder mode, players actually get to construct their own kingdoms.

Nintendo’s Mario games always have pretty easy gameplay, but Mario Run has simplified the mechanic even more.  Mario automatically runs forwards and you tap and swipe to jump around obstacles.  It may sound easy, but there is a lot to master in the game.

  • One-handed game play is, well, handy.
  • You can play against your friends scores.
  • You can play as Mario.
  • You can play while eating a cheeseburger.
  • You can play while holding on to one of the bars on a subway.

  • To unlock the rest of the levels after 1-3, you need to pay $10.00.
  • You must have an internet or cellular data connection at all times to play the game.
  • There are no restore purchase buttons (you need a My Nintendo account to restore purchases).

Final Verdict: Despite needing an internet or cellular data connection to play and a $10.00 in-app purchase to unlock the whole game, Super Mario Run is a very fun game. I would highly recommend it to any longtime Mario fan.
